Agricultural Robots
Agricultural robots sit on top of a precision-agriculture stack controlled by a few large equipment makers (CNH, Deere, AGCO) and enabled by Trimble's guidance technology. The verified record for these companies shows a competitive structure, a reorganised precision-ag partnership between AGCO and Trimble, and heavy tariff, legal and macro pressure. It contains no confirmed activity on autonomous planting or harvesting robots themselves. The evidence for the robotics build-out in this brief comes only from external reporting and is flagged as unconfirmed.
Active institutional exposure flipped from a net outflow of $547.0 million in Q1 2026 to a net inflow of $3.7 billion in Q2 2026. 100% of companies in this sub-theme saw increased active positions in Q2 2026.
Overview
Agricultural robots are autonomous and semi-autonomous machines for planting, weeding, scouting, harvesting and other field tasks. They depend on positioning, guidance, connectivity and ruggedised hardware. Among established participants the sub-theme is anchored by full-line equipment makers: CNH Industrial, Deere and AGCO. CNH competes with Deere in agriculture and turf, and AGCO also competes with Deere in global agriculture and turf equipment. CNH is one of AGCO's two primary competitors and is described as substantially larger than AGCO with greater financial and other resources. Trimble is the main technology enabler. It supplies GNSS and guidance technology to AGCO under a seven-year renewable supply agreement, exclusive with limited exceptions, for professional agriculture machines. AGCO owns 85% of the PTx Trimble joint venture, which holds Trimble's agriculture assets and forms AGCO's mixed-fleet precision-agriculture platform. Trimble keeps a 15% interest and licenses certain retained intellectual property to the venture in return for royalties. CNH has historically been a significant customer of Trimble's precision-agriculture aftermarket products, resold through CNH's dealer network. Around the OEMs sits a supporting supply chain. Modine supplies thermal and cooling products for Deere's off-highway and agricultural equipment. Jabil and Benchmark Electronics provide contract manufacturing for Trimble's hardware. SpaceX supplies Starlink satellite connectivity to Deere to support rural connectivity for farmers, with an initial focus on Brazil.
