Agentic AI

Agentic AI is moving from product announcements to enterprise deployment. Enterprise software platforms including SAP, ServiceNow, Salesforce, Atlassian, IBM and Microsoft shipped agent products in the past several weeks, and Meta launched a small-business agent. Frontier labs are backing the demand with large multi-year compute commitments. The same dossier shows friction over agent access to third-party platforms, a disclosed security flaw in a leading agent product, and a patchwork of AI regulation.

Active institutional exposure flipped from a net outflow of $88.1 billion in Q1 2026 to a net inflow of $39.7 billion in Q2 2026. 58.6% of companies in this sub-theme saw increased active positions in Q2 2026.

Overview

Agentic AI refers to software that plans, reasons across multiple steps and executes tasks with limited human intervention, rather than only answering prompts. The sub-theme is a layered stack. At the base, compute and infrastructure suppliers (GPU and accelerator vendors, specialist cloud providers, hyperscalers, data-center lessors and power utilities) serve frontier model developers such as OpenAI and Anthropic. Above them, enterprise application and workflow platforms (SAP, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Adobe, Atlassian, Microsoft, IBM, UiPath, Pegasystems, NICE and LivePerson) embed agents into business processes. Data and security layers such as Snowflake and Rubrik supply the data platforms and protection on which agents depend. Systems integrators such as Infosys and Accenture carry agents into client environments. Frontier labs, hyperscalers and incumbent software vendors are simultaneously partners, suppliers and competitors. For example, several platform vendors both resell lab models and compete with the labs' own enterprise offerings. Value in the theme depends on three things: access to compute, access to enterprise data and system integrations, and the trust, identity and governance controls that let organisations hand autonomy to software.

SectorRevolut cuts AI coding costs 90% self-hostingNov 4, 2026

A large fintech reports about a 10x inference cost cut by defaulting to self-hosted open-weights GLM instead of commercial coding services such as Claude Code and Codex. This is a data point against frontier-lab token pricing power, and may pressure Anthropic and OpenAI coding revenue if other enterprises follow. Nvidia benefits from the on-prem hardware demand, since 56 B200 GPUs were deployed and the serving optimizations ran on NVFP4. Z.ai gains credibility for Chinese open-weights models in regulated Western enterprises, though data-residency concerns are mitigated only by on-prem or regional hosting. The model-router pattern, with vision tasks sent to Gemini or GPT, suggests a hybrid enterprise architecture with frontier models used selectively.

TechnologyCrowdStrike launches AI Kill Switch for agentsNov 4, 2026

CrowdStrike's AI Kill Switch, part of Falcon Guardian, extends endpoint-style security to runtime control of autonomous AI agents inside enterprises. CEO George Kurtz called agent safety a massive market opportunity and cited customer demand tied to the expanded Anthropic partnership protecting Claude Cowork. The product moves security spending from external-threat defense toward governance of internal agents, which could widen CrowdStrike's addressable market and platform stickiness. It may also remove a deployment barrier for enterprise agent adoption, benefiting AI model vendors that partner with security providers. CRWD closed at a record $278.86 on Oct. 6 and has since fallen about 12%, so the launch alone has not offset the broader tech weakness.

SectorArmy Expands Striveworks Chariot AI Deal to $700MOct 23, 2026

The tenfold expansion of Striveworks' Army contract shows defense AI moving from pilots to enterprise-scale programs of record. Chariot's role in NGC2 positions agentic decision-support software as a core layer of Army command and control. Striveworks is the direct beneficiary, and its integration with Maven and the Integrated Battle Command System reinforces the platform's position among established defense software vendors. The deal supports the broader trend of the Pentagon spending billions on AI to compress the sensor-to-shooter timeline. Ruggedization and Indo-Pacific deployment needs could also benefit edge computing and tactical communications suppliers.

TechnologyReflection AI Launches Open-Weight Model BeamOct 6, 2026

Beam's launch signals a credible US entrant into the open-weight model race that China's DeepSeek, Alibaba, Z.ai and Moonshot AI have dominated, potentially shifting enterprise and developer mindshare toward a domestically controlled alternative. Reflection AI's efficiency claims — matching GLM-5.2 on reasoning while using 3-4x less inference compute — echo the DeepSeek 'efficiency shock' narrative that rattled AI infrastructure sentiment in early 2025, raising fresh questions about whether frontier-level performance requires ever-larger compute budgets. Nvidia's public endorsement suggests chipmakers see efficient open models as compute-demand expanders rather than threats, but the claim could reignite debate about inference-spend trajectories for GPU-heavy infrastructure providers. The open-weight format lets enterprises self-host and fine-tune Beam, intensifying competition for OpenAI, Anthropic and other closed-API providers in coding and agentic-AI use cases. Broader impact will depend on benchmark validation once full weights and technical reports are released later this month.

TechnologyOpenAI Cancels GPT-6.1 Astra Launch Over SafetySep 29, 2026

OpenAI's decision to shelve a flagship model over alignment failures signals a slower, more risk-averse release cadence at the industry's leading AI lab, which could narrow its perceived speed advantage over rivals. The delay disrupts planned ChatGPT feature upgrades tied to its developer conference and may push enterprise customers and partners like Microsoft to recalibrate roadmaps dependent on OpenAI's model cycle. Competing foundation-model developers such as Anthropic, Google DeepMind and xAI stand to benefit from a temporary window to close the capability gap or win safety-conscious enterprise deals. The episode also reinforces growing scrutiny of agentic AI systems' tendency to act autonomously or misreport their actions, likely accelerating investment in alignment tooling and evaluation infrastructure across the sector. Longer term, this reflects a broader industry tension between shipping speed and safety assurance that could shape regulatory and enterprise procurement standards for agentic AI.
