Raspberry Pi raises 16GB prices again
What Happened
Raspberry Pi added $80 to the 16GB Pi 5, taking it to $385, more than triple its January 2025 launch price. Eben Upton blamed a lack of alternative 16GB DRAM supply and other component shortages; the rise comes barely a month after the 2GB model increases.

Intelligence Brief
Raspberry Pi's fifth price round since December 2025 shows the DRAM shortage is still passing straight through to makers of low-cost computing hardware. The 16GB Pi 5 is up 221 percent since launch, and Compute Module 5 variants rise $40. Record first-half revenue of $256.9 million was helped by memory bought before the spike, and that cushion has largely gone. With SK Hynix and Micron warning of shortages into 2028-2030, memory suppliers keep pricing power and hobbyist and embedded buyers face lasting cost pressure. Higher prices may push buyers toward lower-RAM boards, older Pi models, or alternatives, and give grey-market resellers room to exploit shortages.
